Ritual Cræft: an approach to ritual design and development | ebooklette
This brief guide provides a Jewish framework for ritual design and development for everything from a personal private ritual to developing a large wedding ceremony. It also can be used to "tune up" Shabbat and High Holiday services and help them resonate even more.
It is one I’ve developed over the years and has been used as the core of the Ritual Craft class that I often teach to students of the Kohenet Hebrew Priestess Institute.
It's informed by teachings on ritual development and design from many cultures.
In it you'll learn about the four elements of ritual:
1) Kavanah (intent)
2) Aggadah (myth/story)
3) Otot (correspondences)
4) Peulot (actions)
You'll also learn how to work with these elements to craft your own rituals, and see several ritual structures to utilize to build your own rituals.
There are also key questions to ask when developing your ritual to avoid key logistical, cultural, and other mistakes.
Lastly, there's a bonus worksheet at the end that I use to put all this together and create rituals.
